A Threaded Box

Tonight by some miracle, I have been able to get on to this site. Please do not ask me how. The photos are of a lidded box I made at a meeting at Melbourne. Melbourne is 3.5 hours by aeroplane, from my home. The box is 50mm diameter and 75mm high. The threads were chased by hand with a hand held tool. The lathe speed was about 300 rpm. The timber is Cooktown ironwood, sometimes called organic steel. It is very hard but excellent for chasing threads. I have been trying to get on site now for three days and Tony has been good enough to post for me. Thanks Tony. I hope I can work out how to come back again soon.

Did you cut the thread while the piece was spinning?
Sorry for the silly question but I cannot figure out how you did it by hand...
